The Native American Health Center (NAHC) School Based Health Services Department is dedicated to empowering and healing the next seven generations. We have a twenty-five year history of providing school based health services at schools in Alameda County. NAHC currently partners with three school districts to provide services at eight school-based health centers, serving elementary, middle and high school students and their families.

NAHC invests in school and community partnerships in order to expand the scope of integrated services for underserved youth and families. Medical, dental, health education and behavioral health services are provided at the SBHCs. Additional services include assistance with health insurance enrollment, family engagement and youth development opportunities.

The School Based Health Services Department is an innovator in Long Acting Reversible Contraceptive (LARC) use for SBHCs.

The Department has also been a national presenter on successful integration of oral health and primary health care. In recent years, the School Based Health Department has sharpened its focus on social determinants of health and piloted a collaboration with the Alameda Food Bank.

All youth attending schools with a NAHC SBHC on campus are eligible for services. Several of the SBHCs are also open to family and community members. Registration is required and appointments are available for scheduling or drop-in. Some SBHC services require caregiver consent, while other services are available for youth without a parent consent. Please contact a specific SBHC or our department for more information.
