BEHAVIORAL HEALTH

The Behavioral Health Department has a diverse team of experienced professionals that provide individual psychotherapy and group treatment services. We are guided by community- and empirically-identified best practices. We respect and support the unique beliefs and cultural traditions our members bring.

NAHC has been offering behavioral health services since 1985. Today, BH services are offered in Oakland and San Francisco. We use a holistic approach, which means that everyone is treated as a whole person who has interwoven physical (medical, somatic), emotional, cerebral, spiritual, and social needs. Our services are designed to be more than just “talk therapy” – we help you integrate and set the goals that are important to you with these threads in mind. We can help you build lasting self-awareness and management skills to take better control of your life, restore balance, and improve your definition of wellness.

We Provide

  • Individual counseling for adults and youth (ages 6+)
  • Addiction and recovery support services
  • Same-day help and consultation available in the Medical department
  • Educational and interactive group-style experiences to promote:
    • Healthy Minds (healthy behavioral and thought-based skills)
    • Wise Minds (dialectical-behavioral skills)
    • Safety and Trauma Recovery (“Seeking Safety”)
    • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (self-awareness and regulation skills)

Clinical Behavioral Health was created to provide outpatient mental health and addiction and recovery services that include individual counseling.

Integrated Behavioral Health is co-located with medical services to provide short term primary care mental health services.
